Pretty in Pink, the floral way

Pink. Apart from the singer, pink and I do not have an easy relationship. To shower baby girls in pink has never been my thing. Perhaps it is because I have no daughters, only sons. But I have to admit: pink can be pretty. Thank you, Becky, for squarely inviting me into the pink atmosphere. 😉

Travel theme: Mystical

Mystical, Ailsa of Where’s my backpack says, is an evocative term with many nuances. I chose this word because it can be interpreted in so many ways. It can mean spiritually symbolic, otherworldly, ethereal or mysterious. I also love how this word sounds when you speak it aloud, and I can’t help but associate it with mists that conceal the everyday, cloaking the mundane in a veil of mystery. The verb ‘to mystify’; to make mysterious or obscure, is derived from the words mystic and mystery. Ooh, the possibilities are endless.

Did you know that water is very mystical? Well, I didn’t, until I saw my selection of photos and the one element that links them: water. Will you join me in these mystical places and see where they will lead us?

And of course a photo of one of the most mystical beings on earth

Beautiful entries in Ailsa’s Mystical Travel theme at Where’s my backpack.

Eye-Catchers

And so I find myself home again. After traveling Europe for more than two weeks, it is time to settle down once more. To let all impressions, thoughts and ideas transform into stories. Eventually they will find their way to Figments.

Tonight I went on one of my usual evening walks, and you know: you don’t have to travel far to see wonderful things…

Upside Down

Today my world was turned upside down and inside out. Back to the core of life.

So I need to share a bit of beauty: my favorite insect, dangling upside down without the slightest effort. (Click for the original size.)

And thank you, Michael BublĂ©, for singing to me tonight 🙂

Black Is Beautiful

Six Word Saturday:

________________________________________________________________

Beautiful Black. At night. In Daytime.

3.30 am: wide awake
4.30 am: in car
4.50 am: arrival at destination
6.10 am: arrival of target

Yes, youngest son on a day tour to London with his school. He left in the middle of the night and arrived again in the same conditions.

I felt like a private investigator while I was waiting, but perhaps I’m reading too many thrillers. The night was gentle and the long wait was not irritating. In fact, it was relaxing to watch cats at hunt in the dark of the night, to hear birds greet the early morning, one not necessarily related to the other. In the light of a lonely street lantern the letters of my book were barely legible. When my son and his three friends (age 18) arrived, I guided them to my little car. Let’s say it was cozy inside 😉 After which I was welcomed by a warm bed to sleep in on this Saturday, April 21st.

Later today, we visited V-man’s brother, who needed help in electric stuff. While the men were busy, I could not control myself any longer and went outside. To the neighbors. Who have horses. Magnificent creatures. I absolutely adore this black horse. Her name is Pietje, the daughter informed me. Pietje is a boy’s name. But who cares when this black beauty comes strolling towards you and gently muzzles your fingers…

Black is beautiful, at night and in daytime. And especially on Saturdays!

Even on poor soil is beauty

I found this little plant hanging on for dear life to a heap of sand, which my partner used this morning for the garden path in my front yard. The tiny flower didn’t make it, but its image will live on.

Happy Garden Saturday
