Six Word Story Challenge: Light

The days are growing longer and darkness is pulling back. It is time for LIGHT!

6WSCVisible light (commonly referred to simply as light) is electromagnetic radiation that is visible to the human eye, and is responsible for the sense of sight. Visible light has a wavelength in the range of about 380 nanometres to about 740 nm – between the invisible infrared, with longer wavelengths and the invisible ultraviolet, with shorter wavelengths.
Primary properties of visible light are intensity, propagation direction, frequency or wavelength spectrum, and polarisation, while its speed in a vacuum, 299,792,458 meters per second, is one of the fundamental constants of nature. Visible light, as with all types of electromagnetic radiation (EMR), is experimentally found to always move at this speed in vacuum.
In common with all types of EMR, visible light is emitted and absorbed in tiny “packets” called photons, and exhibits properties of both waves and particles. This property is referred to as the wave–particle duality. The study of light, known as optics, is an important research area in modern physics.
In physics, the term light sometimes refers to electromagnetic radiation of any wavelength, whether visible or not. This article focuses on visible light. See the electromagnetic radiation article for the general term.

Such a theoretical description. I bet you can do much better! 😉

Write a story about LIGHT in just six words. Let a photo or image inspire you to write a story. Or first write the story, and then make or search for a picture to go with it. And don’t forget there are other meanings of ‘light’.

Here’s a Six Word Story by Ernest Hemingway.

SixWordStory

Such an impact and unseen images in only six words…

Every two weeks on Wednesday I will post a new theme for this Six Word Story Challenge. Publish your Six Word Story on your own website/blog and paste the link to that post in a comment to this one here at Figments. I will include your contribution in this post, forming a list of stories.

Will you join me? Will you? Say you do 😀  And share the challenge news!

Have fun writing,
Marion

    1. God brings light into people’s lives, and faith will lift the darkness. A true story in only six words, my compliments.

And you won’t have to wait long, tomorrow at 6.45 AM (Dutch time) the new challenge will be up. 😀

    1. And that’s exactly what I love about these 6WSC, JD, they force you to write core words.

Kids can be so frightened of their dreams in the dark – my youngest son woke up countless times when he was little – and a simple light can be enough to chase the monsters away.
Oh yes, you told a complete and recognizable story.

    1. Jonny, thanks so much for participating! 🙂

The dark can be terrifying indeed. A strong story about the absence of light and what it does to people. May the sun shine brightly in your life.
