The okapi, also known as the forest giraffe, Congolese giraffe or zebra giraffe, is a mammal native to the northeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa. The beauties on these photos live in Safari Park Beekse Bergen in the Netherlands.
Although the okapi bears striped markings reminiscent of zebras, it is most closely related to the giraffe. The okapi and the giraffe are the only living members of the family Giraffidae.

Hallo Marion, Okapis are really mysterious- I think they are basically areas for dense foliage areas i.e the Congo rainforest

Okapis are giraffe-type creatures
That live closer, far, to the deck;
They lack altitudinal features,
In that they have much shorter neck!

Nature in all her glory, where short- and longnecks are both precious. ❤
