Later today, V-man’s family is coming over for an early Christmas dinner. One of the things we are going to serve them is this goulash. I used my mom’s recipe and added a few things of my own. The result is full and spicy.
For those who would like to give it a try too, the recipe:
- butter and oil
- 1.5-kilo beef, chopped into pieces
- 125 grams bacon, small pieces
Fry the beef and bacon in a bit of butter and oil in a casserole (I use cast iron) until they are slightly brown.
- 2 onions
- 3 red bell peppers
- 4 tomatoes
- 3 garlic
- 2 tablespoons of mild paprika powder
- 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika powder
- 2 teaspoons of thyme
Meanwhile chop the onions, peppers, and tomatoes in small cubes and the garlic in tiny pieces. Fry the vegetables in a separate pan and add the spices.
- 2 stock cubes
- half a liter of water
- a glass of red wine
Make a broth using the stock cubes and the water. Add the vegetables to the meat, and gently pour the broth into the iron pan. Then add the wine and stir.
Place a lid on the pan, put it in the oven and let the goulash simmer for four hours, 160ºC.
Season with a bit of
- soy sauce
- brown sugar
- tomato ketchup
- pepper
Ízletes ételek! Smakelijk eten! 😀 And have a wonderful weekend.
