Gentle Sentinels

When life’s too much
and tears at the fabric
of your soul
take a breath
and slow down
to the heartbeat of the trees
Feel their blood
dripping gently
through bole and limb
Feel their roots
digging down deep
into Mother Earth
stretching out
to brothers, to sisters
Feel their arms
reach for the skies
gently rocking
to the playful wind
among their fingers
the bark tough but alive
Ground your feet
plant your toes
surrender your weary thoughts
to these gentle sentinels
Feel one
become one
and let go
All life is connected
and offers freely
draw strength
from us all
