Fluffy Snowflakes Stronger
Than Mighty Bamboo

The silent attacker arrived on powder light feet. It struck from the air, soundless, lulling its surroundings to sleep with its icy voice. Slowly but inevitably, the bamboo had to bow its heads to the supremacy of the snow. The very first ánd last snow of the year 2014.
So this morning I set out to free my lush bamboo, to save my living green house screen. But the broom was in the shed. And the entrance to the shed was barricaded with super grass, snow and ice. If you look carefully at the photo above, you will see my witch broom, resting against the fence on the left side. I was not riding it, but I did use it to shake the snow loose, wrapped up in my warm parka. And together we made it! The bamboo is free again. For now, because the whiteness is still falling from the gray skies.
Here is Boris, investigating the strange white stuff. In the background the bamboo, upright once more.
By the way, up north and down southeast the Netherlands are green and rainy. But here in the southwest there’s snooooooow!
Have a light Saturday.
Well captured Dutchess!!

Love your first paragraph, Marion. Brilliant! I’m sure the bamboo is very grateful that you took the weight off it. Boris looks a little uncertain as whether he likes this new phenomenon. 🙂

It did embrace me, Sylvia, while I was shaking and dragging all upright again. And as a thank you, the bamboo was showering me with love… snow and ice. 😉

He enjoys it mightily after being locked up in the house. I hadn’t dared to let him out yet after his disappearance act a couple of months ago.

I can hear his thoughts…. on one paw I think he truly likes it and on the other side of it…well….what are those strange sounds behind me?!

Thanks so much, Tonya. I hope so too, the smaller streets are still covered in it.

Pretty pictures! The marmalade cat is a stark contrast to the snow.

Boris is the only one that seems to like the snow. Smokey and Bandit stay in almost all the time.

Love the ‘header’ shot, Marion. 🙂 It hasn’t made it across here yet, but looking at the sky…

We had rain and unseasonable warmth, which eradicated most of the remaining snow cover. Great photo work. Thanks

Last winter there was no snow at all in the Netherlands, Ron. The weather is changing more each year. And thank you.

So did we, the snow came one day too late.

Ooh yes, that heavy wet snow can be a real destructive force. We get it a fair bit where I live. It’s been known to break tree branches.

Roofs have collapsed in our region, and rangers have given out a warning to stay out of the forests and parks. One day of snow and society is struggling hehehe.

Geweldig gevonden, bambow.
Mooi geschreven weer, Marion. 🙂
