It has been three weeks since Smokey and Boris came to live with us. And during those weeks they have made our house their own. Their home. Friends even come over on maternity visits. And they bring presents! How sweet is that. 😀
Today my new tomcats learned that their world is bigger than it seems. Today they were allowed to go out into the back yard for a bit, so they can get used to the neighborhood.
Sniffling and snuffing they made their way slowly through the garden. Hiding behind the bamboo, sneaking upon each other under the lilac tree. Meowing to encourage one another and rolling on the tiles.
Of course dirty water is always better than fresh water from a cat bowl! But I wasn’t worried, my former cats and Bandit have taught me this a long time ago.
To my surprise Boris, the biggest of the two, turned into a rodent right before my eyes and tried to climb the fence by driving his claws into the wooden post and scurrying up like a squirrel. Apparently his world was still not big enough. In a stern voice I told him to stop that and they both bolted back to the safety of the house.
They will continue to investigate the world, but one step at a time. They are far too precious to get lost.
Beautiful cats, Marion. They look very content in their new surroundings. 🙂

The downside of them making it their own is that – you have now become tenants or live-in servants!

Bedankt, Richard! Het moet toch raar zijn om jouw Boris hier zo te zien hè? Weet dat hij het naar zijn zin heeft. We staan vaak samen voor het raam naar buiten te staren, en dan wijs ik hem op vogels.
