I’m in absolute awe.
The General Sherman Tree, 36.5 feet / 11 meters in diameter. The largest tree on earth, thriving in the Sequoia National Park. Words are insignificant when gazing upon this Tree Giant.
A life long dream came true today.

Phew, and I thought the giant stinkwoods in Knysna Forest were big! Simply mind-boggling.

Can’t wait to see the potos I made on my big PC screen at home, Col.
Do you have pictures of the trees at the Knysna Forest?

What a beautiful tree and that first shot with the golden flowers in the foreground is gorgeous. I have read about these trees since I was a little girl, thanks for sharing.

It was like a treasure meadow, Seonaid, the golden flowers and the big trees.
The sequoias are so gigantic that you can’t catch them properly in a photo. The second photo is taken from far away, and the people at the base of the tree are tiny. I just sat there on a bench, at the base of the General Sherman Tree, and stared up in wonder.
The sequoias are soft to touch, that was so surprising. They transport water up that way and are immune to fire.
