In the Spirit of Winter

~

Wet droplets in gray skies
seep color from my world,
trickle down the window
and dress my house
in sheets of coldness

Tonight snow flakes
whirl, they twirl
like a girl in dance
their whiteness descends
into mushy layer

So let’s stay in, my love
and wrap ourselves
in blanket warmth
while our eyes reflect
golden candle light

Leave gloves and scarf
and come, cuddle close
where heart meets heart
near the fireplace
‘cause winter is coming

    1. Are you a spring child too, Colline? That is my season of heart. Autumn and winter can be nasty and cold, but they also provide the right contrast for evenings spent inside. Plus long, long walks with cold cheeks and hot chocolate milk 🙂

      1. I love the flowers of Spring; and the lightness we seem to feel as we shed the layers of clothing. I do admit, though, that I enjoy the colours of Fall; and the crisp mornings after having experienced the heat of summer. 🙂

  1. Oh I do adore poetry when written so beautifully… and when one can match it so well to a photograph it is magic… how I loved this post… looking at the photo, I would say, snuggled up together in front of a fire place is the place to be with your loved one…. love this post… thank you…

    1. It is all here, Bulldog: the rain, the snow to come, candles and my partner… but unfortunately the fireplace is missing. I have turned up the central heating to create the right atmosphere though.
Thank you so much for your kind comment, again you made me smile. Have a warm weekend, together with Mrs. Bulldog 🙂
