Let’s dare to be ourselves,
for we do that better than anyone else can.

I love this quote by Shirley Briggs.
Today it is official: my youngest son has signed his diploma and is ready to go to university. He has chosen Health sciences, together with two of his friends, and will move out into the wild and roaring student life in August. Student Sean. It does have a nice ring to it, don’t you think? 😉
The fishing village of Clovelly was a pleasant surprise on our trip in the south of England,
as was Corfe, village of Dorset, with its famous castle.
More villages in Jake Sprinter’s Sunday Post.
Thank you, Jen, for leading me here.
An extraordinary performance of elegance, expression and body control in a graceful dance. Such enormous strength in the slender body of Beatrice Knop, born December 13, 1972 in East-Berlin.
Her partner in this piece is Leonard Jakovina.
It takes years of tremendous work, dedication and commitment to reach this level.
Please watch Caravaggio with me.
I’m in awe. Though I don’t dare to think of what this woman’s torso, legs and especially feet have to endure.
Six Word Saturday:

Our friend Monnik celebrated her 40th birthday today, by inviting seven friends for an afternoon of street golf and a very special barbecue on water. Though we only reached four golf ‘holes’ – two trees and two concrete blocks – and almost knocked a woman off her bike, we had big fun. The boat had a lazy engine, which got us stuck under a bridge for a while, and also a lazy barbecue (the round device in the middle of the orange ‘boat’), but in the end the boat and wine floated and the food got hot so we could finally dig in. The nice skipper kept his thoughts to himself hehehe.
Thanks Monnik, for sharing this special day with us.
Have a fine weekend!

I love wood. I grew up with the scents of wood and glue, since my Dad has a workshop with all tools imaginable. He has always created things – still does actually – like Gyro Gearloose.
This little dog I made out of red meranti wood:
The brass frog once scared my neighbor. Senseless. She screamed and ran away. I was showing her the black wax model I molded. She thought it was real:
I crafted both the dog and the frog a long, long time ago, but they live where ever I live. Sturdy pets! 😉
Last year I created this silver-green dragon. It has been a guest at Figments before:

Last Monday we received a message that Richard Verhoeven, one of our students, is very, very ill. Saturday he was found in cardiac arrest by his family. Ever since he has been in hospital, fighting for his life. Our academy is devastated, students and staff alike. This afternoon we received the horrible news that his parents and brother have to get ready to say goodbye.
A bright young man, only 19 years old. He is always ready with a smile, lending a hand where it is needed in a refreshing and spontaneous way. His enthusiasm inspires others on many occasions.
Richard, you are never far from my thoughts in these hours. Be strong, young friend. Be strong enough to stay, and brave enough to let go if that is what you must do. We are there with you and your family.
Marion
