Music: Nightwish

Are you ready for the Finnish band Nightwish? Then hold on tight!

Nightwish is a symphonic metal band that was formed in 1996 by songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and former classical vocalist Tarja Turunen. They gained international fame with their album Oceanborn and once Once was released in 2004, even got their video clips on MTV. Nightwish’ music is also used as movie sound tracks, for example Nemo.

Here is Over The Hills And Far Away

Nemo, the most famous one I guess

It’s not easy to find good quality clips, but here’s my favorite, Ghost Love Score. Because of the changes in tempo. Because of the story telling. It is an orchestral version and brings out epic images and feelings in me.

A siren from the deep came to me
Sang my name my longing
Still I write my songs about that dream of mine
Worth everything I may ever be

In 2005 Tarja left the band. To hear and watch Nightwish in Storytime and Amaranth with the new lead singer Anette Olzon, for me is a disappointment. The music is as epic as before, but Anette’s voice is by far not strong enough, she is too ‘girly’.

I really love the original Nightwish combination in the albums Oceanborn, Wishmaster, Century Child and Once. And those are within hand’s reach.

Caretaker of lads and cats. No lady, but all woman. RPGamer. Avid reader. Writing my first book, squeezing in time during busy days. And nights if needed. Because I'd love to introduce you to the wonderful people who are living in my mind.

  1. Yep, you are a biker lady alright …oops woman no lady ;). I commented on the only piece of music I know so far that you displayed. I am really interested in checking out your other recommendations 🙂

              1. Don’t you get it? I translate for living… and when my coworkers want to be smart and do their translation themselves they use this crap tool and send it back to me to review – a HEADACHE 😛

                1. ROFLLL, no, how could I have known. Now your remark opens up a whole new dimension, of course Google is your enemy then. It’s horror if you don’t know what you’re doing. Only an aid, never the right thing.

                  1. Exactly 😀 Once a friend from Costa Rica decided to translate into English his entire poetry opus via Google translator and picked me to revise it … I could not help it .. some really bad words were sent his way … .;)
