Today’s prompt by WordPress is: Chocolate or vanilla?
Easy choice right?
CHOCOLATE
Dark chocolate, pure rich velvet taste. It melts on your tongue, the taste lingers in your mouth. Involuntary your eyes close and you moan softly, if only for a second. Dark chocolate, a must after dinner. Forget about dessert, just give me a small piece of dark chocolate and I’m content.
Not the milky stuff, that’s just a fleeting taste. And white chocolate isn’t even chocolate! Far too sweet. These counterfeits are not for me.
In Honduras they have been using chocolate since 1400 BC. Until the 16th century, no European had ever heard of the popular drink from the Central and South American peoples. It was not until the Spanish conquest of the Aztecs that chocolate could be imported to Europe. I’m all against conquests, but in bringing the chocolate to Europe, the Spanish have my blessing.
Dark chocolate, with its high cocoa content, is a rich source of epicatechin and gallic acid, which are thought to possess cardioprotective properties. Dark chocolate has also been said to reduce the possibility of a heart attack when consumed regularly in small amounts. It has been promoted for its health benefits, as it seems to possess substantial amount of antioxidants that reduce the formation of free radicals. Cocoa solids contain alkaloids such as theobromine and phenethylamine, which have physiological effects on the body. It has been linked to serotonin levels in the brain. Some research found that chocolate, eaten in moderation, can lower blood pressure.
I mean: great taste, healthy effects. What’s stopping us? 😉
This morning I found a delightful quiz on blogthings.com
Are You Chocolate or Vanilla?
And guess what: I’m VANILLA haha. Must be the tea soaking off the chocolate brown.
Vanilla… *shakes her head, mumbling ‘silly quiz’*
Not vanilla, CHOCOLATE!
What would be your choice?
Now I’m craving some semisweet dark chocolate! I’ll have to go buy a bar tomorrow! 🙂

Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. But good for you…i love milkchocolate and white-not really-chocolate.
So there will be more dark left for you all. 🙂
I find dark a bit to bitter and i’m a ‘sweet’ person, hahaha.
I prefer no filling, just the whole milk chocolate.
But i won’t say no to a box of La Boheme with milk and white ‘bonbons’ filled with white cream ;-p
Love xxx

The quiz is definetely broken. I’m supposed to be vanilla….?
The quiz doesn’t explain why it gives the wrong answer…. so we’ll just pretend that I’m chocolate instead.
After all, you are what you eat!

Perhaps we should design our own quiz. And make sure all the answers point at one option: CHOCOLATE 😉
Good luck on the hunt Ida!

I agree with you, as long as I’m allowed to have a bit of sugar with it.

Exactly the same here. The darker the chocolate, the better. That quiz is slightly off key, I must say 😉
