Helpless Laughter

Day 26 of the ‘Post A Day 2011′ challenge: Who are the three funniest people in the world? Who are the three funniest people you know personally?

The absolute number one on my list of funniest people is Joanna Lumley with her creation ‘Patsy Stone’ in Absolutely Fabulous. She’s outrageous, does exactly what she wants and is drunk and stoned most of the time. Hilarious combination with Jennifer Saunders. You must like British humor though, they can be rather nasty 😉

On close second place is John Cleese in Fawlty Towers as ‘Basil Fawlty‘. Everybody knows this British sitcom, and if not, they should! Basil is very rude and a snob, but he makes me roar with laughter. Just try it out!

Last but not least is Sandra Bullock. Apart from being gorgeous, she’s also funny. I can’t name a specific character, but the way she acts, her expressions, she just makes me smile. And grin. She is the real thing.

Now for the funny people in my life.

On a shared first/second place are my sisters (in law and out of law) Nancy and Monique. Both are bright, sweet, intelligent women with a fine sense of humor. But together, they will rock your evening. Add a bit of wine, add a bit more and there you are: smudged mascara and abdominal pains. The stories Nancy tells in her unique Belgian accent – seeeeee, even now I start grinning and I’m only thinking about them! – are just the best.

Third place is for Meggelien, a dear friend of mine. She is honest, forthright and just dares to do anything. Nothing is too crazy for this wonderful woman. Twice a year we go out for dinner to catch up on our lives – she eats everything with little beady eyes, tentacles, claws and legs, and I take the rest, perfect dinner agreement – and then we just talk, laugh, roar and cry.
